In the dynamic realm of first-person shooter games, BattleBit Remastered has made a significant splash in its early access stage. This innovative project, conceived by developers SgtOkiDoki, The Liquid Horse, and Vilaskis, breaks away from the traditional aesthetic with its unique Roblox-style graphics while presenting an expansive battlefield that can host a staggering 254-player battle in its 127 vs 127 conquest mode. This overview provides a preliminary insight into my experiences and observations of this promising title.
From distinct player classes to the utility of proxy chats, BattleBit Remastered weaves several layers of depth and strategy into the gameplay. With a robust assortment of vehicles and explosives, every match becomes a thrilling spectacle set in fully destructible environments. While the game is yet to reach its full potential, this early access look will explore the current state of gameplay, weapon mechanics, map design, and the burgeoning player community that makes BattleBit Remastered a refreshing addition to the FPS genre.
BattleBit Remastered Early Access
BattleBit Remastered has arrived, striking a remarkable balance between the playful Roblox-inspired graphics and thrilling, Battlefield-like gameplay. At its heart is the grand 127 vs 127 conquest mode, where players vie for control over multiple objectives on expansive maps.
Battlebit Remastered currently sports six classes – Squad Leader, Assault, Medic, Engineer, Support, and Recon – each furnished with distinctive equipment sets and starting weaponry, aligning with their respective roles. With the inclusion of an amusing yet strategic proxy chat feature and a variety of vehicles like tanks, armored transports, helicopters, and ATVs, the fun and chaos are elevated in these near-totally destructible game maps.
BattleBit Remastered offers an arsenal of weapons that, despite the game’s simplistic graphics, feel detailed and precise. The mechanics – from aiming speed and reload times to fire rates and recoil – are surprisingly impressive, matching up to many top-tier FPS titles.
Thoughtful details, such as saving unused ammunition during early reloads or the option to switch between firing modes, add to the immersive weapon-handling experience. Much like many other FPS titles, progression is also rewarded as players can unlock new attachments for each weapon through eliminations.
Maps and Destruction
The game maps are notably well-crafted, offering a pleasing balance of elevation changes, close-quarters areas, depth, and open space that culminate in a compelling battlefield experience.
Further enhancing the gameplay is the fully destructible environment, transforming the battleground as the match progresses. The developers’ commitment to refining the current map set shines through, with an option for players to rate and provide feedback on the maps post-game, promising a more polished and enjoyable experience in future updates.
The Player Community
The player community of BattleBit Remastered is already emerging as a vibrant and enjoyable aspect of the game. The proxy chat enables enjoyable exchanges, strategic planning, and on-the-spot communication, fostering engaging and exciting moments.
While the occasional unsavory player may surface – as in any online game – the overall community experience has been more than satisfactory.
Even in its early access stage, BattleBit Remastered is shaping up to be the FPS game we didn’t realize we were missing. Especially in the wake of recent disappointments in the genre, this title is a welcome change. Standing apart from the intensely competitive e-sport FPS games, BattleBit Remastered is both casually enjoyable and explosively fun, infusing a much-needed freshness into the FPS market.
While the game offers the customary level progression and unlocks, it’s the electrifying gameplay that ensures repeat playthroughs. We will continue to monitor BattleBit Remastered through its development stages, eagerly anticipating its full release. For now, BattleBit Remastered is available on Steam for a highly reasonable $15.
