Slay the Spire: Apparition
Overview
Apparition is a special Skill card in Slay the Spire. When played, your character gets the Intangible buff for one turn.
Intangible is a powerful buff that reduces all incoming damage to 1 for the duration of the turn. This can be a life-saving effect in tough battles, especially against enemies with high damage output. The downside of Apparition is that the Ethereal copies cannot be upgraded or interacted with in any way, making it a one-time use card.
Upgraded (Apparition+)
When Apparition is upgraded to Apparition+, the Ethereal property is removed, meaning that the card will not disappear from your hand after being played. This allows you to draw the card multiple times during a battle, without the need to use it immediately.
With the upgraded version, you can wait to use your Apparitions whenever you need, which can be particularly helpful in longer battles. This makes Apparition+ an excellent choice for decks that prioritize defense and survivability, especially when facing difficult opponents.
How to get Apparitions: Council of Ghosts
Apparitions can be obtained through the Council of Ghosts Event at any Unknown Location (or ? Rooms). This event is exclusive to Act 2.
During the event, a group of apparitions will surround you, and offer you some of their power.
Upon accepting this power, you are granted 5 Apparitions (3 Apparitions on Ascension 15 or higher). However, to add them to your deck, the player must sacrifice 50% of their max HP. So if you are at 90 max HP, it will be reduced to 45 max HP.
This is the only place where you can get Apparitions.
Are Apparitions Good in Slay the Spire?
Apparitions can be very good in certain situations. They grant the player Intangible for one turn, which can reduce all incoming damage to 1 and be a life-saving effect in tough battles, especially against enemies with high damage output.
Since they exhaust upon use, they provide a powerful one-time effect that can help you survive difficult encounters.
However, they are only a one-time use card and cannot be upgraded or interacted with in any way. So, whether they are good or not depends on your playstyle and the context of the battle.
Should you get Apparitions in Slay the Spire?
Whether or not to get Apparitions ultimately depends on your playstyle and the strategy you are using for your deck. If your deck prioritizes defense and survivability, then Apparitions can be an excellent addition. They can help you survive tough battles by granting you Intangible, reducing incoming damage to 1 for the duration of the turn.
However, if your deck is focused on offense and dealing damage quickly, then Apparitions may not be as useful, as they are primarily a defensive card. Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide whether the benefits of Apparitions align with your deck’s strategy and playstyle.
